Claire Temple is a night nurse at Metro-General Hospital in Hell's Kitchen. She does not suffer sass. (Especially from you, Mike.)

She trusts her instincts and believes in inherent good; she wants to believe in the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.

But the one thing she remembers from Sunday school is that the martyrs — the saints, the saviors — all end up the same way: bloody and alone.
